I’m delighted the Rotunda story is out but I feel sorry for them that it ran as “get the Rotunda” storyline. My view is that they are acting creatively because they are faced with an impossible situation and have absolutely no help from the HSE and Dept of Health. Where are they supposed to put the patients?
Also, the 10 nurses versus 13 nurses referred to is almost certainly referring to a ward of in-patients (which is extremely serious) and not a clinic.
Not having enough nurses in an OPD clinic causes chaos and delays but is not necessarily unsafe.
But not having enough nurses for the in-patients is frightening because those are the patients who have complications or illnesses.
